Merriman Waine & Co Solicitors Web SiteA brief history of the Firm
Merriman Waine & Co. owes its
origins in Pewsey to the firm of Merriman Porter & Long which opened its
office there in 1973. The firm can trace its origins back to 1738 and is one of
the oldest law firms in the country. Consultant Solicitor Peter Waine has been
in the law for more than 40 years and has been at Pewsey since 1973. The
Principal of the firm Michael Hodge has joined the firm more recently following
the merger with his firm Ouvry Creed & Co. The aim of the firm is to provide
a quality legal service in a friendly and cost-effective way and to develop a
close working relationship with its clients as 'family solicitors'. Traditional Service - Modern Approach
Michael Hodge and Peter Waine say:
"It's the firm's policy to use modern equipment, computers,
internet connection and the like as tools to aid us in providing the best
service that we can for our clients. However, we have deliberately
chosen not to follow the trend set by Banks financial institutions and an
increasing number of law firms where so often one seems to be dealing either
with a telephone call centre or a computer. We know that our clients
recognise and appreciate the value of the essentially personal service that a
country practice like ours is able to provide." |
